Who we are

History

Family Service of Napa Valley was founded in 1948 to provide low-cost counseling to financially challenged families. To meet the needs of displaced mentally ill adults, we developed a transitional housing program with clinical support services in the 1980s. A permanent housing program with clinical support services for a special population of disabled adults was later created.

We also collaborate with other nonprofits to meet critical gaps in services aimed at underserved populations in Napa County. One of these collaborative programs is Bridges, which coordinates social services so clients can get help quickly from any of the participating agencies through a single contact and assessment.

Meeting Community Needs

The people we serve are a cross-section of the local population, by age, ethnicity, geographical location, and economic status. Without our programs, over 500 people would go untreated and unserved every year.

Message from Our Executive Director

The lack of access to affordable mental health treatment in Napa County is a growing concern. There is also a critical need to train culturally and linguistically professional staff. Napa County residents have benefited from Family Service's affordable mental health services in both English and Spanish for 60 years.

I hope, by recruiting and training the mental health professionals of the future, we can continue to address the needs of the community through providing quality mental health services. We believe in “neighbors helping neighbors.” Our board of directors and clinical staff are all dedicated to our community, our clients, and continuing to collaborate with other agencies in maximizing limited resources.
